MIQAT Sites Development Project

MIQAT points, which mark the boundaries for pilgrims entering into the state of Ihram when traveling to Mecca for Hajj or Umrah, are typically located in rural or semi-urban areas.

Overview

The proposed project location at Al-Juhfa, one of the important MIQATS for residents of Syria and Egypt, is significant in the heart of the desert region in northwestern Saudi Arabia, approximately 190 kilometers from the holy city of Mecca. Al-Juhfa is a crucial religious site for Muslims, as it serves as a designated MIQAT point for those embarking on the Hajj pilgrimage or Umrah. This is where pilgrims enter into the sacred state of Ihram, donning the prescribed white attire and reciting specific prayers, marking the beginning of their spiritual journey to Mecca. The surroundings of Al-Juhfa feature arid desert landscapes, and the location's religious importance is deeply ingrained in the traditions and rituals of Islam.
The design will incorporate Islamic and Hijazi architectural styles: Hijazi architecture is a regional subset of Islamic architecture that is specific to the Hijaz region in Saudi Arabia, including cities like Jeddah and Medina. It reflects a deep connection to the local environment and climate.
